Evelynne Cuhel

Evelynne Cuhel, 94, of Chippewa Falls passed away on Thursday, Nov. 20, 2008, at the Wissota Health and Regional Vent Center in the town of Eagle Point.

Evelynne was born in the pioneer town of Fern, later named Sheldon, on Nov. 18, 1914, to John and Marie (Roessler) Cynor. The Cynors immigrated from Czechoslovakia in 1911.

Evelynne married Ed Havluj in Ladysmith and to this union a daughter, Shirley Eileen, was born. Shirley was insured with the ZCBJ Bohemian Lodge when she was one day old. Evelynne was a fifty year member of the ZCBJ Lodge.

Evelynne worked at JC Penney’s, Schultz Brothers, Peavey Paper Mill and farmed.

Evelynne married Lud Cuhel Jr. from Cadott and to this union a son, Joseph John, was born.

Evelynne loved her family very much. She enjoyed gardening, canning, flowers and crafts.

Evelynne and Lud spent 20 winters in Hot Springs, Ark., and traveled throughout the United States. They also traveled to the Czech Republic to see her relatives.

Survivors include: Shirley Leech of Racine and Joe and Judy Cuhel of Chippewa Falls; grandsons, John of Milwaukee and Jim of Appleton.

Evelynne is preceded in death by: her husband Lud; three brothers, Carl John and Rudy Cynor; two sisters, Elsie Jiskra and Mary Eckers; her son-in-law Edward Leech; and her parents.

Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday Nov. 23 at the Leiser Funeral Home in Cadott with Rev. George Olinske officiating. Interment of cremains will be in the Bohemian National cemetery in the town of Arthur at a later date.

Family and friends may call from noon until the time of services on Sunday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the ZCBJ Lodge in Cadott or the Irvine Park.

The family would like to thank Dr. Harrison and Marilyn, Renee and the staff at Wissota Health for their loving care.
