Succumbs at 78

Joseph Jiskra, 78, Cadott, passed away early Monday morning, Nov. 9, at the Bloomer Memorial Hospital.

He was born Oct. 28, 1892, in Czechoslovakia.  He came to the United States in 1910.  On June 18, 1913, he was married to Mary Sobola.  They resided in the towns of Arthur and Goetz.  In 1958 he retired and moved to the village of Cadott.  He had been at the Marek Rest Home, Bloomer, for a short time.

He was preceded in death by his wife and by one brother.

Survivors include four sons, Victor and James of Holcombe, Lud of Ruby, and Joe Jr. of Peoria, Ill.; four daughters, Mrs. Carl (Rose) Falkenberg of Ruby, Mrs. Orville (Lily) Briggs of the town of Goetz, Mrs. Robert (Clarice) Bellebach of Eau Claire, and Mrs. Francis (Bessie) Duval of Cadott; three brothers, Frank Jiskra of Minto, N.D., Jerry of Chicago, and Fred of Milwaukee; 39 grandchildren; and 39 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at the Leiser Funeral Home on Wednesday afternoon, 2 p.m., with the Rev. Richard Maser officiating.  Mrs. Raymond Post sang, accompanied by Mrs. Del Forman.  Interment is to be made at a later date at the Bohemian Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Dale Briggs, Duane Stipek, LaVern Falkenberg, and Eugene Falkenberg, Lanny J. Jiskra, and Francis Duval Jr.
