Frank Svoma Dies
After Long Illness

Frank J. Svoma, 68, and a resident of this community the past 45 years, passed away at St. Joseph's hospital at 10:00 o'clock last Thursday evening.  Mr. Svoma had been in failing health the past two years.  He was taken to the hospital a week before his death.

Frank J. Svoma was born in Czechoslovakia August 7, 1876 and came to America with his parents in 1883.  They settled in Clarkson, Neb., where he resided until 1899 when his marriage to Miss Mary Najbrt occurred at Hay Springs, Neb., on October 16.  They came to Cadott on their honeymoon and decided to settle here.  They purchased a tract of wild timber land in the town of Arthur, cleared it and developed a fine farm.  Three years ago Mr. Svoma retired from farming and moved to Cadott to make his home.

Besides his wife he is survived by three daughters and eight sons as follows: (Helen) Mrs. David Patton, Cornell; (Rose) Mrs. Leon Peroni, Goetz; (Vilma) Mrs. Wm. Clark, Eau Claire; Joe Svoma, Cornell; Frank of Stanley; John of Holcombe; Alfred and Henry of Cobban; Elmer and Victor of the town of Arthur; and Ludvick, in the U.S. Navy.  One sister, Mrs. Steve Najbrt, town of Arthur and two brothers, John of Cadott and Elmer of the town of Arthur and 25 grandchildren also survive.  One sister, Mrs. James Novak preceded him in death.

The remains were at the Leiser Funeral Chapel until Monday noon and services were held at the Bohemian Hall north of Cadott at 2 o'clock that afternoon.  Wm. Buresh and Rudy Muska officiated at the Bohemian service and Rev. Logelin conducted spiritual services.  Burial was made in the Bohemian Cemetery.

Pallbearers were James Michal, Ludvig Cuhel, John Forman, Chas. Vlasnik, Joseph and James Straka.  During the services, Mrs. Wm. Roshell, Mrs. Rudy Vlasnik and Mrs. Gene Turecek sang three songs, two of which were in the Bohemian language.
