MARY SVOMA Funeral services for Mary F. Svoma, 93, were held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Leiser Funeral Home in Cadott with Rev. Fred Sauder, Epiphany Lutheran Church, Eau Claire, officiating. During the service, Henry Hagner sang "Asleep in Jesus". He was accompanied by Carmen Filtz. Pallbearers were LeRoy Patten, Harley Svoma, Ronald Svoma, Leon Jay Perone, Richard Clark and Donald Svoma. Mrs. Svoma was born March 10, 1879 at Sany, Czechoslovakia, and came to the United States at the age of two years, settling in Hay Springs, Neb. On October 16, 1899 she was married to Frank Svoma at Hay Springs. Following their marriage they moved to the Cadott area and the Town of Arthur where they farmed until retiring in 1943. They lived in Cadott for two years, then in Eau Claire until 1959, and for the past years she has made her home at Strum. She died Tuesday, August 29, 1972, at the Osseo Area Hospital following an illness of several months. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Helen Patten of Cornell, Mrs. Rose Perone of Rockland, Wis., and Mrs. Vince (Vilma) Struck of Altoona; seven sons, Frank of Stanley, John of Ruby, Alfred and Henry of Cobban, Elmer of Ladysmith, Victor of Cornell, and Dr. L. R. Svoma of Strum; 33 grandchildren, 67 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, one son, Joseph and three sisters. Interment was made in the Bohemian Cemetery, Cadott. |
