Zimmerman death notice

LANSING, Ill. — Clara Ann Zimmerman, 90, of Lansing, Ill. passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 1, 2008, in Lansing, Ill.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 6 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Boyd, with Fr. Robert Nelson officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.

Friends and family may call one hour prior to service time at the church.

Plombon Funeral Service, Stanley, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Clara Ann Zimmerman, age 90, of Lansing, IL, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 1, 2008 in Lansing, IL.

Clara was born in the Town of Edson on January 7, 1918, the daughter of John and Anna (Ryba) Kastel.  She grew up in the Town of Edson and attended area rural schools.  She was employed with Dr. Lein, the area veterinarian and was then united in marriage to Arthur Zimmerman on September 9, 1941 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Boyd.  They resided in the village of Boyd for two years, before purchasing a farm in the town of Edson where they resided until retirement.  In November of 2000, Clara moved to be with her daughter, Janet Welch in Lansing, IL and has resided there since.  Clara is survived by her daughter, Janet Welch in Lansing, IL; two grandchildren, Thomas (Rita) Welch of Calumet City, IL and Tamra (Scott) Schubert of Owen; six great-grandchildren, Tina Marie, Raquel and Noble Welch, Autumn, Edwin and Ashley Schubert; sisters, Marcella Baures of Thorp and Catherine Ruff of Chippewa Falls.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Art in 1993; brothers, Joseph, John, Frank, Lawrence, Leo, Roman, Sylvester and Edward Kastel; sisters, Verona Smasal, Mary Eslinger and Cecelia Glaser.
